Dusty Wright, born Mark J. Petracca on July 2, 1957, is an American musician, producer, and writer. He was the editor-in-chief of Creem magazine and co-founded CultureCatch.com in 2005, an online pop-culture magazine that features his interview series, The Dusty Wright Show. The show’s interviews were among the early video and audio podcasts on iTunes with guests like Ron Howard, Gore Vidal, Jim Marshall, Budd Hopkins, and David Lynch.

Wright grew up in Akron, Ohio, attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, and earned a BA from the University of Akron. He later led Creem magazine and worked with Prince’s New Power Generation. His screenplay The Gentleman Bandit was shown at the AFM and Malibu Film Festivals in 2000. He was the music consultant for Johnny Depp’s 2004 film Secret Window and produced the 2005 documentary Wildwood Days and the 2008 documentary Airplay: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio. He also co-wrote for Cee Lo Green’s Talking To Strangers on Fuse.tv.

As a musician, Wright contributed “Speed of Life” to Ron English’s English 101 compilation and recorded “Ramble On” for a Led Zeppelin tribute album, The Song Retains The Name, Volume 2, as well as a track for Baseball (America’s Game) on Nolan Ryan: A Musical Tribute. His song “I’m Still In Love (w/You)” was featured in David Koepp’s 2008 film Ghost Town, and the video for “Secret Window” from If We Never… won Best Music Video at the 2011 Los Angeles Film & Script Festival. His song “Swirl” was played on BBC Radio 6 Music by Rob Hughes and Marc Riley. If We Never… received three stars in Uncut magazine’s Americana Roundup in 2011.

Wright hosts Dusty Roads, a twice-weekly online radio show on Transcendental Music. He also writes for The Huffington Post. In 2014, he began work on Growing Up With Roswell, a documentary about Jesse A. Marcel Jr. Filming took place in Helena, Montana, New Orleans, Seattle, Toronto, and Roswell, with an 18-month production plan.

In his personal life, Wright was introduced to culinary businesswoman Bobbie Lloyd in 1995. They married on May 4, 1997, in a Unitarian Universalist ceremony in SoHo, New York City. They live on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and have two children. Wright practices tai chi.
