Ajuma Nasenyana
Ajuma Nasenyana, born January 14, 1985, is a Kenyan model from Lodwar. She began in Miss Tourism Kenya 2003, where she won Miss Nairobi. A modeling scout saw her and she became the focus of a Gala magazine story, which helped her land with Ford Models for their Supermodel of the World contest. She moved to Europe in 2003 and signed with agencies in several countries. She walked major fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris for designers such as Baby Phat, Carlos Mienes, Ungaro, and Vivienne Westwood. She has done magazine editorials, a Lacoste video, and an Issey Miyake catalogue. She was named Africa Fashion International’s Africa Fashion Week Model of the Year.
Nasenyana has spoken against the Kenyan trend of lightening skin and changing hair. She loves her natural dark skin and hair and hopes to start a natural skincare line to help other women embrace their natural look.
