Dunmanway railway station
Dunmanway railway station was a train stop in Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland. It was on the West Cork Railway network and stood at the southern end of the town near the junction of Park Road and Clonakilty Road.
History
- The station opened on 12 June 1866.
- It served passengers for many years.
- Regular passenger services ended on 1 April 1961.
- There was a nearby hotel called the Railway Hotel, which still exists today under a different name.
Routes
- The station connected with towns on the West Cork line, including Ballineen and Enniskean to the north.
- It was also linked to the Ilen Valley line, which ran toward Skibbereen, with Drimoleague on the route.
General information
- The station was originally part of the West Cork Railway and later became part of broader Irish railway groups over time.
- It is now a historical site, with the railway line no longer in use.
