Duggar is a cultural region in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, mainly in the southern part of the Jammu Division. It includes the districts of Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua, and Reasi. The largest city is Jammu. The area covers about 9,235 square kilometers and had about 3.17 million people in 2011. The people are mainly Dogras who speak Dogri; other languages include Hindi and Urdu. Hinduism is the most followed religion, with Islam and Sikhism also present.

Name and heritage: Duggar, also called Duggar Pradesh or Durgara Desh, is the traditional homeland of the Dogra people. The origin of the name is debated, with theories linking it to words meaning "hill" or "invincible," but scholars do not agree. Historically, Duggar was a cluster of hill states in the northwestern Himalayas. The Dogra rulers later formed Jammu and Kashmir as a kingdom in the 19th century.

Today: Many people and groups in Duggar support creating a separate state for Duggar (or Jammu) to protect Dogra culture and address political and economic concerns. Campaigns like Ikkjutt Jammu advocate for separate statehood, arguing it would give Jammu more control over development, resources, and governance, and better reflect its language and traditions.
