Driller Park (Kilgore, Texas)
Driller Park is a baseball stadium in Kilgore, Texas, located at 2100 South Commerce Street. It is owned by the City of Kilgore and run by the Kilgore Parks Department. The park seats about 3,000 fans and has a Kentucky bluegrass field.
History and features:
- Opened on April 24, 1947, after being built by the Kilgore Baseball Club on land donated by S. S. Laird. The opening game drew more than 3,100 fans.
- The Kilgore Drillers played there from 1947 to 1950 (and in 1953) in the Lone Star League and East Texas League. They won the Lone Star League titles in 1947 and 1948, were runners-up in 1949, and disbanded after the 1950 season.
- The park was renovated in 2008 to host the East Texas Pump Jacks of the Texas Collegiate League. The Pump Jacks have played there since 2008, and the ballpark also hosts Kilgore High School baseball.
- The Pump Jacks’ logos reference East Texas oil history, featuring a donkey pump jack and a dinosaur.
- Renovations were again completed in 2021–2022, keeping Driller Park as a key baseball venue in Kilgore.
