Drake's Regiment of Militia
Drake's Regiment of Militia, also called the 2nd New Hampshire Militia Regiment, was an infantry unit from New Hampshire that joined the Continental Army during the Saratoga Campaign. Called up in Portsmouth on September 8, 1777, they quickly moved to join General Horatio Gates against British General John Burgoyne in northern New York. They served in General Ebenezer Learned's brigade and fought at Bemis Heights. After Burgoyne surrendered on October 17, 1777, the regiment was disbanded on December 15, 1777. Its notable commander was Abraham Drake.
