Dirtnap Records
Dirtnap Records is an American independent punk rock label founded in 1999 by Ken Cheppaikode. He started the label while living in Seattle and later ran it from Portland after buying the Green Noise record store in 2005. Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dirtnap began by releasing local 7-inch singles and splits and was distributed by Mordam Records before switching to RedEye Distribution in 2005. The label gained attention in the early 2000s with bands like The Briefs, The Epoxies, and The Exploding Hearts. In 2006, Dirtnap signed an exclusive licensing deal with Railer Entertainment, which led to several Dirtnap bands appearing on the Skate PS3 soundtrack. In 2009, the label signed The White Wires from Ottawa. Other notable releases include The Marked Men and The Ergs!. In 2007, Cheppaikode started Green Noise, a vinyl-only sublabel named after the store to keep a local focus. Other bands on Dirtnap include The Steve Adamyk Band, Martha, Mind Spiders, Fox Face, The Hussy, and Sonic Avenues.
