Dione moneta, the Mexican silverspot, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family (subfamily Heliconiinae). It ranges from the southern United States through Central and South America. The upperside of the wings is orange with brown wing bases and thick dark veins. The underside of the hindwings is brown with large silver spots. Wingspan is about 3 to 3.25 inches (roughly 7.6–8.3 cm).
