Dinesh Nandan Sahay
Dinesh Nandan Sahay (2 February 1936 – 28 January 2018), also known as D. N. Sahay, was an Indian police officer who became a politician. He served as the Director General of Police in Bihar and, after retirement, joined the Samata Party. He earned an MA in English literature, taught at H. D. College in Arrah, and joined the Indian Police Service in 1960.
He was the first Governor of the new state of Chhattisgarh, serving from November 2000 to June 2003, and then Governor of Tripura from June 2003 to October 2009. Born in Madhepura, Bihar, into a middle‑class Kayastha family, Sahay was married to Manju Sanjay and had three children. He died in Patna, Bihar, at age 81. He was the father‑in‑law of Alok Raj, who later became the DGP of Bihar.
