Diaphorodoris mitsuii
Diaphorodoris mitsuii is a very small shell-less sea slug, a dorid nudibranch in the Calycidorididae family. It was first described from Susaki on the Izu Peninsula in Japan and has been reported from South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. Specimens from Australia, Indonesia and the Red Sea are likely distinct, unnamed species.
About 5 mm long, the body is elongated and oval with rounded ends. The back has small cone-shaped bumps. It has broad, lobed oral tentacles with a slit-like mouth between them. The rhinophore sheath has a smooth edge. There are six small, simple gill plumes that can retract into a cavity with a smooth margin. The foot extends backward into a fairly long tail, while the front end is rounded. The skin contains small spicules. The overall color is yellow, with an orange-yellow line along the edge of the mantle fading toward the edge. Synonym: Lamellidoris mitsuii.
