The Endeavour railcar is a class of diesel trains used by Sydney Trains for intercity services in New South Wales. They are similar to the Xplorers but are built for shorter trips. All 30 carriages (15 two-car sets) were built by ABB at Dandenong between 1994 and 1996. They began service in March 1994. Today 28 of the carriages (14 sets) are in service.

How they work
- Each two-car set has a TE car (toilet, wheelchair accessible) and an LE car (luggage space and bicycles). They usually run as two-car sets, but can form four-car sets at peak times.
- The trains have air conditioning and standard gauge tracks. They use a Cummins diesel engine (383 kW) and a Voith hydraulic transmission, plus an auxiliary Cummins engine to power the air conditioning and lighting.
- Top speed is 160 km/h in design, but in service they operate up to 145 km/h.

Lines and operation
- Endeavour cars serve several lines: the Blue Mountains (to Bathurst), the Hunter region, the Southern Highlands, and the South Coast (to Bomaderry). They were designed for shorter trips and are mechanically the same as the Xplorers but with different interiors.
- Some Endeavour cars can work with the Hunter J Set as part of a multiple-unit arrangement, mainly for failures or stock moves.

Notable cars and livery
- Two Endeavour cars, TE 2801 and LE 2851, carried a special NSW TrainLink livery.

Refurbishment and changes
- The fleet was refurbished in 2009–2010 and again in 2017. In the 2010s, Bombardier refurbished many units at Dandenong, and Downer in Cardiff carried out the 2017 program.
- Some Endeavour carriages have been converted to Xplorer carriages (for example LE 2865 and TE 2815 became Xplorer EA 2508 and EC 2528). TE 2805 was briefly converted to an Xplorer in 2007. CityRail logos were removed, and some styling changes were made, but the trains otherwise retained their look.
- The Endeavour design influenced later trains, such as the VLocity used by V/Line.

Future plans
- Some Endeavour sets are scheduled to be replaced by the newer R sets in 2026–2027.
