Derinçay, Mut
Derinçay, formerly Hocantı, is a small neighborhood in the Mut district of Mersin Province, Turkey. It has 191 residents (2022). The village lies in the Göksu River valley north of Mut, about 15 km from Mut and 180 km from Mersin. It was founded by Turkmens and appears in Ottoman records from the 15th century. The old name Hocantı may refer to a person named Hoca Enti or to a settlement in Turkestan. A bridge to the east of the village is protected as a historical asset. The economy relies on irrigated farming, with olives and fruits such as apricots, plums, melons and figs.
