Department of Transport and Construction
Department of Transport and Construction
The Department of Transport and Construction was an Australian government department that existed from 7 May 1982 to 11 March 1983. It was created to manage road, rail and sea transport and to take over the Commonwealth construction duties of the abolished Department of Housing and Construction. It followed the Department of Transport (III) and the Department of Housing and Construction (II).
The department operated as part of the Australian Public Service, reporting to the Minister for Transport and Construction, Ralph Hunt, with Rae Taylor as Secretary. When it was dissolved, its responsibilities were transferred to the Department of Housing and Construction (III) and the Department of Transport (IV).
