Denny Sanford Premier Center
The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is a large indoor arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It sits at 1201 North West Avenue and is connected to the Sioux Falls Arena and Sioux Falls Convention Center. Opened in September 2014 after breaking ground in 2012, it cost about $117 million to build (about $155 million in 2024 dollars). The City of Sioux Falls owns the building and ASM Global operates it.
With about 12,000 seats for concerts and most events (slightly different configurations for sports), it is the largest indoor venue in South Dakota, replacing older facilities for big events. The arena’s naming rights partners are Sanford Health, First PREMIER Bank, and PREMIER Bankcard.
Tenants include the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) since 2014 and the Sioux Falls Storm (IFL) from 2015 to 2024 (the Storm is currently dormant due to a leasing dispute). The PREMIER Center hosts a wide range of events, including large concerts, major sporting events, and college tournaments. It hosts the Summit League men’s and women’s basketball championships each year.
In 2024, the arena set attendance records for the Summit League tournaments. It has also hosted the Professional Bull Riders and shows by artists such as Paul McCartney, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and many others.
In May 2024, Sioux Falls was selected to host the 2025 U.S. Olympic team trials for curling and wheelchair curling, taking place November 7–16, 2025. The winners will represent the United States at the 2026 Winter Games in Milano-Cortina.
