1956 Sam Houston State Bearkats football team
The 1956 Sam Houston State Bearkats represented Sam Houston State Teachers College (now Sam Houston State University) in the Lone Star Conference during the 1956 college football season. Led by fifth-year head coach Paul Pierce, the Bearkats finished with a perfect 10–0 record, including 6–0 in conference play, and won the Lone Star Conference title. They also won the Refrigerator Bowl, beating Middle Tennessee 27–13. Home games were played at Pritchett Field.
