Davis City, Iowa
Davis City is a very small city in Decatur County, Iowa, United States. It lies along the Thompson River and covers about 0.59 square miles, all land, at an elevation of about 958 feet.
The city was laid out in 1855 and named after William Davis, who ran a sawmill. It used to be a shipping point on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. A river gauge station is maintained on the Thompson River in the city.
As of the 2020 census, 179 people lived in Davis City, in 81 households and 52 families. The community is mostly White, with a median age near 50, indicating a sizable older population. There are about 117 housing units in the city.
Education for residents is provided by the Central Decatur Community School District. There is no fixed-route transit in Davis City, but intercity bus service is available nearby in Lamoni through Jefferson Lines.
