David Reeb
David Reeb (born 1952 in Rehovot, Israel) is an Israeli artist known for painting and video. His work has been shown at major venues worldwide, including Documenta X in Kassel and the Berlin, Ankara, Kwangju, and Havana biennials, as well as Tate Modern in London. He has had solo exhibitions at the Tel Aviv Museum, the Israel Museum (with Miki Kratsman), Haifa Museum, Umm el-Fahem Gallery, and galleries in Düsseldorf and Berlin, among others. His paintings often use photographs or video stills; early work drew on images from news photographers like Kratsman, but since 2006 he mainly uses his own source material. He frequently exhibits video as well. In the 1980s and 1990s he helped organize joint exhibitions with Palestinian and Israeli artists. Reeb is an activist against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and has documented protests with Palestinian villages and international supporters since 2005.
