Darnley is an area in south-west Glasgow, Scotland, along the A727 and just west of Arden. The M77 separates the two areas, but a footbridge connects them. Nearby are Priesthill (north), Southpark Village (south), and South Nitshill and Parkhouse (west). There is a small industrial estate, and the closest train station is Priesthill and Darnley. The Brock Burn river flows through Darnley. A remaining part of the original development is the Glen Clunie Place block.

Historically, the Darnley estate was in Eastwood parish, Renfrewshire, about 2.5 kilometres east of Barrhead. It was the seat of the Stewarts of Darnley. Henry Stewart, Lord Darnley, married Mary Queen of Scots and was the father of James VI. The title Earl of Darnley was created twice. Darnley Castle no longer stands, though a possible round stair tower might remain in a later building. Mary Queen of Scots visited Glasgow in 1567 to collect Lord Darnley, but he died a few days later.

In the late 20th century, Glasgow built a large new housing area in Darnley to help with post-war shortages. About 1,336 deck-access flats were built in three phases, along with plans for two primary schools, a community centre, a social club, a bowling green, a church, a small shopping centre and a library. By the late 1990s many blocks had become dilapidated and were partly demolished and replaced with individual houses. The current housing is managed by Glen Oaks Housing Association, which also runs regeneration projects in nearby Arden, Pollok and other areas.

The A726 widening and the Nitshill corridor helped Darnley grow as a light industrial and retail area. The Darnley Trading Estate and other shops sit near M77 junction 3. Darnley Hospital closed in 1992, and a 120-bed nursing home opened on the site in 1993. A large Sainsbury’s supermarket opened in 1992 and was expanded in 2010, increasing its size and adding a petrol station and extra car parking. The store reopened on 29 September 2010 with many long-serving staff.

A tree in the area was severely damaged by Storm Éowyn in January 2025.
