Danwon District, or Danwon-gu, is a district in the city of Ansan, in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It lies in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The district covers about 91 square kilometers and has around 371,000 residents. The population density is about 4,070 people per square kilometer.

The name Danwon comes from the nickname of Kim Hong-do, a famous 18th-century Korean artist. The artist’s hometown was once called Ansan, and locals chose Danwon to honor him.

Danwon is divided into 12 dongs (neighborhoods).
