Dans la Nuit (album)
Dans la nuit is a jazz soundtrack by French clarinetist Louis Sclavis. It was recorded in October 2000 at Studios la Buissonne in Pernes-les-Fontaines and released by ECM in 2002. The project began when director Bertrand Tavernier invited Sclavis to write music for Charles Vanel’s 1929 silent film Dans la nuit. The album lasts 54 minutes and 52 seconds. It sits after L'Affrontement des Prétendants (1999) and before Napoli's Walls (2002) in Sclavis’s discography. Produced by Manfred Eicher (ECM 1805), the recording received strong praise from critics, with AllMusic’s Glenn Astarita giving it 4.5 stars for its colorful and well-crafted arrangements.
