Dalwogon, Queensland
Dalwogon (also written Dalwogan) is a quiet rural locality in the Western Downs Region, Queensland, Australia. It covers about 159 square kilometres and had 53 people in the 2021 census (31 in 2016). The Leichhardt Highway passes through from Miles to Kowguran, and Nine Mile Creek forms much of its northern and eastern boundary. The land is mainly used for grazing native vegetation, with some cropping.
The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “turtle.” The Dalwogan railway station on the Wandoan line once served the area, but the line and station are now closed; the station building was moved to the Miles Historical Village.
Dalwogon has no schools. The nearest government primary schools are Drillham State School in Drillham and Miles State School in Miles; the nearest secondary school is Miles State High School in Miles. The postcode is 4415. It lies in the Western Downs Region, in the state electorate of Callide and the federal division of Maranoa. Distances: about 13.7 km north-northwest of Miles; 140 km northwest of Dalby; 223 km northwest of Toowoomba; 351 km west-northwest of Brisbane. Time zone is AEST (UTC+10).
