DaHeala
DaHeala, born Jason Matthew Quenneville on February 23, 1982, in Gatineau, Quebec, is a Canadian record producer and songwriter managed by SAL&CO. He has worked with The Weeknd, Halsey, Lil Uzi Vert, Belly, and others. He earned three Grammy nominations for his production on The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness (2015) and has collaborated with top producers like Max Martin, Daft Punk, Rick Rubin, and Metro Boomin.
Growing up bilingual, he learned to DJ at 13 and started using FL Studio. His first production credit came at 23 on Belly’s Death Before Dishonor, and he later produced Belly’s The Revolution (2007). He also produced all tracks on Massari’s 2005 debut.
He began his longtime collaboration with The Weeknd on Kiss Land (2013), producing all songs with DannyBoyStyles and The Weeknd. In 2014, he contributed to Rick Ross’ Mastermind on “In Vein” featuring The Weeknd, working with Metro Boomin and Rick Rubin. In 2015, he was executive producer on Beauty Behind the Madness, producing and co-writing songs like “Often,” “Acquainted,” “Dark Times,” and “Earned It.” “Earned It” appeared on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack and earned nominations for an Academy Award and two Grammys, with the album earning nominations and winning Best Urban Contemporary Album.
In 2016, he co-wrote five tracks on Starboy, including the title track with Daft Punk, earning a SOCAN No.1 Song Award. He also co-wrote Halsey’s “Not Afraid Anymore” for Fifty Shades Darker. He continued producing and writing for artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, French Montana, and Nav. In 2020, he co-wrote and produced tracks on The Weeknd’s After Hours, including “Blinding Lights,” which Billboard later named the Greatest Hot 100 Hit of All Time in 2021. In March 2020, The Weeknd released three bonus tracks on After Hours, all produced by DaHeala.
