History
DWBL began in late 1972 as WBL with a Top 40 format and was a top-rated station in Metro Manila during the Martial Law era. Notable personalities included Willy “Hillbilly Willy” Inong, Rudolph Rivera, Bernie Buenaseda, Orlando S. Mercado, and Mike Enriquez. In 1985, many jocks moved to RMN’s DWKC-FM; Buenaseda stayed briefly before leaving to start DWTM 89.9. In 1986, DWBL reformatted into a talk station with brokered programming.
In April 2015, 8TriMedia (owned by Jojo Soliman and Kaye Dacer) took over part of DWBL’s airtime for programs hosted by well-known personalities such as Dr. Rey Salinel, Alfredo Lim, Miguel Gil, Percy Lapid, Shalala, and Lloyd Umali. This arrangement lasted until October 2015, when the airtime was moved to DZRJ-AM along with new programs.
