Cristiana Oprea
Cristiana Oprea (born 11 March 1992 in Bucharest) is a Romanian rally driver who competes in the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC). She is the first Romanian woman to compete in both the World Rally Championship (WRC) and the ERC.
Her rally career began in 2015 as a co-driver to George Grigorescu, then she started racing in the Dacia Cup with a Dacia Sandero 0.9 TCe. She also competed in the Romanian National Rally Championship and in the ERC.
In July 2018, with co-driver Diana Hațegan, she became the first Romanian female crew in the last 50 years to race abroad (Rally Sliven, Bulgaria, a FIA European Rally Trophy event). In July 2019, Oprea and Hațegan became the first Romanian women to represent Romania in the FIA ERC at Rally di Roma Capitale, finishing 8th in ERC3 and earning maximum points in the ERC Ladies Trophy.
In April 2022, Oprea made her WRC debut at the Croatia Rally, becoming the first Romanian woman in WRC. In 2022-2023, she competed in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup, the world’s first electric rally championship. In 2024, she competes again in ERC, driving an Opel Corsa Rally4.
Oprea studied architecture and urban planning at Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest (Urban Planning 2010-2014, Architecture 2011-2017) and wrote a graduation project on a Motorsport Excellence Centre in Bucharest. She also worked briefly in public relations for the Romanian Motorsport Federation in 2015. She founded Femei în Motorsport, a platform to promote women in Romanian motorsport.
