Courcelles–Saint-Évariste
Courcelles–Saint-Évariste is a small municipality in southern Quebec, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. It’s part of the Beauce-Sartigan regional county municipality and sits about 105 km south of Quebec City. The municipality was created on January 1, 2024, by merging the former towns of Courcelles and Saint-Évariste-de-Forsyth.
Geography and access: The area covers about 203.5 square kilometers in total (roughly 201 square kilometers of land). It lies along Route 108, which connects the Beauce region to the Eastern Townships, making Courcelles–Saint-Évariste a gateway to that tourist area. The town sits on a hill with wide views of nearby mountains, including Mont Adstock, and is roughly in the center of a triangle formed by Thetford Mines (north), Saint-Georges (east), and Lac-Mégantic (south).
Population and housing: In 2021, 1,325 people lived in 621 of the 741 dwellings. This marked a small decline from 2016.
