Connecticut Route 263
Route 263 is a 6.23-mile state highway in northwestern Connecticut, running from Goshen to Winsted in Winchester. It is maintained by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and lies entirely in Litchfield County.
The route begins at Route 272 in northeastern Goshen as Winchester Road, heading northeast around Mount Ouleout and crossing into Winchester after about 0.4 miles. In Winchester, it follows Thomen Road and Ashley Road toward Winchester Center, then turns right onto West Road in the town center, passing the Winchester post office. It then heads northeast along Winchester Road, traveling between Crystal Lake and Highland Lake as it approaches Winsted. In Winsted, Route 263 uses Boyd Street and Lake Street to end at an intersection with US 44 and Route 183 near the Mad River.

History:
- Before 1963, the road between Winsted and Winchester Center was an unsigned state-maintained road known as State Road 863 (SR 863), dating back to 1959.
- In 1963, as part of the Route Reclassification Act of 1962, Route 263 was established from SR 863 plus a westward extension to Route 272 in Goshen.
- Since then, there have been no significant changes to its alignment.
