Commando (film series)
Commando is an Indian Hindi-language action thriller film series produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures, with Reliance Entertainment co-producing and distributing. The series has three films:
- Commando: A One Man Army (2013) directed by Dilip Ghosh
- Commando 2: The Black Money Trail (2017) directed by Deven Bhojani
- Commando 3 (2019) directed by Aditya Datt
Starring Vidyut Jammwal as Karanveer “Karan” Singh Dogra, an elite Indian commando. Jammwal performs his own stunts and is trained in the martial art Kalaripayattu. The character’s name nods to Karan Singh, a former crown prince of Jammu and Kashmir.
Plot and themes: The films follow Karan on dangerous missions to stop terrorists, criminals, and money launderers. Commando 2 features a mission in London to stop a terrorist plot and track a money launderer named Vicky Chadda. It is the only film in the series released with Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions. A TV series introduced a new commando character named Virat, played by Prem. An action mobile game adaptation for Commando 2 was released by Zapak Mobile Games.
Production details: The total running time of the three films is about 380 minutes. The budget across the series was around ₹126 crore, and the box office gross was about ₹150 crore.
