Collins–Maxwell Community School District
Collins–Maxwell Community School District (C-M) is a rural public school district based in Maxwell, Iowa. It serves portions of Story, Jasper, Marshall, and Polk counties and includes the communities of Collins, Maxwell, and nearby rural areas. The district operates two schools: Collins–Maxwell Elementary School in Collins and Collins–Maxwell Middle School-High School in Maxwell, serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The district was formed on July 1, 1983, by merging Collins Community and Maxwell Community School districts.
Current superintendent is Mark Snavely. Corey Lunn previously became superintendent on July 1, 2019.
In the 2022-23 school year, about 412 students attended. There are about 37.0 full-time equivalent teachers and 30.2 full-time equivalent staff, for a student-teacher ratio of around 11:1. The budget was about $7.16 million in 2020-21. NCES District ID is 1907900.
Athletics: The Spartans compete in the Iowa Star Conference. School colors are black, blue, and silver, and the mascot is the Spartans. From 1988-89 to 2017, Collins-Maxwell shared sports with Baxter as the Collins-Maxwell Baxter Raiders.
