CitySavings
City Savings Bank, commonly known as CitySavings, is a thrift bank in the Philippines and a subsidiary of Union Bank of the Philippines. It was founded in 1965 in Cebu City as Cebu City Savings and Loan Association (CCSLA) by Don Ramon Aboitiz and Teotimo Abellana. The bank later expanded to Tagbilaran, Bohol, and in 2013 it became part of UnionBank when UnionBank acquired City Savings.
Regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, CitySavings keeps its corporate office at UnionBank Plaza in Ortigas Center, Pasig, Metro Manila. The bank serves customers across the Philippines and offers digital banking, loans, pensions, services for OFWs, savings accounts, and checking accounts.
Key milestones:
- 1965: Founded in Cebu City as CCSLA.
- 2013: Acquired by UnionBank and became its subsidiary.
- 2018–2019: Acquired PR Savings Bank from the ROPALI Group; merger closed in March 2019, expanding the network to about 217 branches and making CitySavings the fourth-largest thrift bank in assets at the time.
- 2021: Acquired a 70% stake in Bangko Kabayan, making it an affiliate.
As of 2019, CitySavings reported assets around PHP 76.8 billion and had about 1,845 employees (as of 2020). The bank is led by Chairwoman Ana Maria Aboitiz Delgado, Vice Chairman Lorenzo “Larry” T. Ocampo, and President & CEO Manuel Santiago Jr. Its website is citysavings.com.ph.
