Chi Village

Chi Village is a small village in Mon district, Nagaland, India. It lies about 7 kilometers from Mon town. In 2011, 1,588 people lived in 273 families. The official language is English.

History (in brief)
The Chi people are said to have come from Alamkaphen Longphangphenyu, led by Ahng, and moved through several places before settling in what is now Chi Chingkhanhoa. They are considered among the oldest communities in Nagaland. A Chi saying translates to: “Chi is a village which teaches the east and advises the west.”

Religion
All residents are Christians, mostly Baptists. Christianity arrived in Chi in 1959, and the Chi Baptist Church was established on June 7, 1959. The church plays a central role in village life, with jubilees celebrated in 1984 (Silver) and 2009 (Golden).

In 2011, Chi’s literacy rate was 63.48% (male 69.82%; female 57.49%). Educational institutions in or near Chi include:
