Carpenter Township, Itasca County, Minnesota
Carpenter Township is a rural area in Itasca County, Minnesota. It covers about 106 square miles in total, with roughly 101 square miles of land and 5 square miles of water. Most of the township is inside the George Washington State Forest. The unincorporated community of Togo is located within Carpenter Township.
The population was 179 at the 2010 census. The township was named after Seth Carpenter, an early settler. State Highways 1 and 65 are the main roads in the area. Togo lies about 32 miles north of Nashwauk, 25 miles west of Cook, and 25 miles east of Effie.
In 2000, 208 people lived in 99 households and 65 families. The area had a low population density, was predominantly White, and the median age was around 52. Median household income was about $30,000, with some residents below the poverty line.
