Camillo Camilli
Camillo Camilli (c. 1704–1754) was a renowned 18th-century master luthier from Mantua in northern Italy. He built most of his instruments there and studied under Zanotti, while being heavily influenced by Pietro Guarneri of Mantua, often called the grandfather of Mantuan violin making. Guarneri’s influence shows in Camilli’s instrument shape, purfling, and the way the f-hole notches are cut. Today, his instruments are prized by string players.
