Burley and Rushpit Woods
Burley and Rushpit Woods is a 161.2-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in the parish of Burley, east of Oakham in Rutland. The woods sit on upper Lias clay and have many mature and dead trees. Oak is the main tree, with ash in some areas. Lichens here are of regional importance, and invertebrates include one Red Data Book species and five nationally scarce species. The woods are private and not open to the public.
