Brachinus elegans is a species of ground beetle in the Brachininae subfamily. It belongs to the animal kingdom, arthropods, insects, and beetles (order Coleoptera). The species was described by Chaudoir in 1842.

Where it’s found:
- Europe: Bulgaria, Albania, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, and most former Yugoslav countries (except North Macedonia). It is also in Western Europe and on islands like Sardinia and Sicily.
- Outside Europe: Armenia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Morocco (North Africa).
- Georgia was recorded as a new location in 2004.
