Blighty was a British pay TV channel in the UKTV network. It launched on 8 March 2004 as UKTV People, replacing UK Horizons, and showed repeats of light factual programs about Britain, many from the BBC. It initially shared hours with UKTV Food +1 but became a 24-hour channel by July 2004. A one-hour time-shift service, UKTV People +1, ran on Sky from January 2005 to April 2006. The channel was renamed Blighty on 17 February 2009 as part of UKTV’s rebranding, and it focused on British life, with some BBC programs edited to fit shorter slots. UKTV was owned by BBC Worldwide (50% stake) and Scripps Networks Interactive. Blighty closed on 5 July 2013 and was replaced by Drama (now U&Drama) on 8 July 2013. The branding featured a Union Flag and scenes of quintessentially British life.
