Birte Steven
Birte Steven (born 11 October 1980 in Hannover) is a German former swimmer who specialized in breaststroke. She swam for SGJ Hannover and for Oregon State University in Corvallis, where she studied psychology and competed for the Beavers under coach Larry Liebowitz.
She earned ten All-Pacific honors and finished sixth in the 200 m breaststroke at the 2007 FINA World Championships in Melbourne. In 2007 she set the German long-course record in the 200 m breaststroke with a time of 2:25.33 at the national championships.
Steven qualified for the 200 m breaststroke at the 2004 Athens Olympics with an A standard time of 2:25.95 from the German trials. She swam 2:27.42 in the morning heats to place seventh and reach the semifinals, but finished 11th in the semifinals with 2:29.22, missing the final.
Her height is 1.73 m and her weight 61 kg.
