Bir Gandus, also spelled Bir Gandouz (Arabic: بئر كندوز, Biʾr Kandūz), is a village in Western Sahara that Morocco currently controls. It is claimed as a rural commune and serves as the administrative center of Morocco’s Aousserd Province. In 2014, about 4,625 people lived there. The area includes a Moroccan military post, but it is not a border crossing. The Mauritanian border to the west is at Guerguerat on the RN1. In February 2023, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced plans to build two football fields in Bir Gandouz and Guerguerat. The location is at 21°37′N, 16°28′W, in the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region. The area covers about 2,186 square kilometers with a population density of around 2.1 people per square kilometer.
