NASCAR Scene
NASCAR Scene was a weekly magazine about NASCAR stock car racing, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. It began in the 1970s and became one of the oldest NASCAR-focused publications. The magazine was originally called Grand National Scene, later renamed Winston Cup Scene, and finally NASCAR Scene. In 1992, founder Robert Griggs sold the publication to American City Business Journals, and it became part of Street & Smith’s sports division. NASCAR Scene published its last weekly issue on January 6, 2010, with the final issue appearing in December 2009. After the shutdown, much of its content was merged into its sister publication, NASCAR Illustrated, which continued as a monthly magazine and expanded coverage to the Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series until 2016. The owner, American City Business Journals, retains all rights. A Grand National Scene feature appeared during the 2019 NASCAR Throwback Weekend at Darlington, celebrating the publication’s history with archival content and new commentary.
