Ben's Brother
Ben's Brother is a five‑piece English band from London led by Jamie Hartman. The group was named after Hartman's big brother Ben.
Their music sits in post‑Britpop indie pop and they’ve been active since 2006.
Their debut album, Beta Male Fairytales, came out on 6 August 2007. It reached number 14 on the UK album chart and went Gold on iTunes UK. The single Let Me Out was nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in 2007. A track from the album, God by Another Name, became the first free iTunes Store single of the week in the iTunes Plus format. In September 2007, the song Stuttering was used in a Dentyne Ice commercial in Canada and the US, which led to a fan giveaway and a trip to Texas to see them perform.
The band made their American festival debut at South by Southwest in March 2008. That year they were again nominated for an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for Let Me Out.
After being dropped by EMI, they started their own label and began recording a second album in autumn 2008. The first single from that album, Apologise, released in early 2009, was co‑written with Natalie Imbruglia.
They then signed with Island Records for singles from Battling Giants, which includes a duet with Anastacia, Stalemate, and other collaborations with Jason Mraz, Jack MacManus, Cass Lowe and Pete Gordeno.
On 15 February 2010 Hartman announced that the band would continue to release music without Island Records.
In 2016, they released the single Honeybee on YouTube and iTunes.
Jamie Hartman later co‑wrote Rag'n'Bone Man's European hit Human.
