Belgium competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. 61 Belgian athletes (41 men and 20 women) took part in 14 sports. The flag bearer was table tennis player Jean-Michel Saive. Belgium won 6 medals: 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze, finishing 31st in the medal table.

In archery, veteran Paul Vermeiren was the only Belgian archer. It was Belgium’s seventh appearance in the modern Olympic archery tournament. He reached the semifinals but lost the bronze medal match, finishing in fourth place.
