Beauty & Crime
Beauty & Crime is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega. It features new material for the first time since 2001's Songs in Red and Gray and is her first release on Blue Note Records. The album was released on July 17, 2007. It won the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical on February 11, 2008. The work is dedicated to Vega’s younger half-brother Tim, who died in 2002. After modest sales for her previous albums, A&M Records ended their contract and Vega released a best-of collection in 2003. She toured, performing early versions of tracks from Beauty & Crime. The album was recorded in New York City in November 2006 and in England in January 2007; all songs were written by Vega. It was produced by Jimmy Hogarth along with Vega.
