Beach fale
Beach fales are simple thatched huts by the coast in Samoa and other parts of Polynesia. They’re popular today as low‑cost places to stay for visitors. A beach fale is built with a few wooden posts, has no walls, and features a round or oval thatched roof. In Samoan, fale means any kind of building, and the coastal huts are called faleo‘o. The word is similar to hale in Hawaiian and whare in Māori. Beach fales are usually found in villages near the sea and are often rented to tourists to help families earn extra income. A larger traditional Samoan house, called fale tele, serves as a meeting or guest house.
