Barren Township is a township in Independence County, Arkansas, United States. It covers about 40.5 square miles, with most of it land and a small amount of water. The elevation is about 548 feet. The coordinates are roughly 35.8996°N, 91.5422°W. Part of Cave City lies within the township. As of the 2010 census, 1,483 people lived there, up from 1,259 in 2000 (about a 17.8% increase). The population density was roughly 37 people per square mile. The area uses Central Time (CST) and observes daylight saving time (CDT).
