Bamberg Baskets
Bamberg Baskets is a German professional basketball team from Bamberg, Bavaria. They play in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), Germany’s top league, and also compete in European competitions such as the FIBA Europe Cup. Home games are held at Brose Arena in Bamberg, which seats 6,150. The team colors are red, silver and white.
The club began in 1955 as 1.FC 01 Bamberg and has had many sponsor-linked names over the years, including TTL Bamberg, TTL uniVersa Bamberg, TSK uniVersa Bamberg, GHP Bamberg, Brose Baskets, and Brose Bamberg. In 2023 the team shortened its name to Bamberg Baskets after Brose stopped naming rights.
Bamberg Baskets has won 9 German championships, 6 German cups and 5 German Super Cups. They have also competed in Europe, with appearances in the EuroLeague and more recent European competitions. The club runs strong youth programs and has a loyal, passionate fan base known for its lively atmosphere.
Current leadership includes president Norbert Sieben, general manager Philipp Galewski, head coach Anton Gavel, and team captain Chris Sengfelder. The club retires the numbers 5, 6 and 23. The team’s license is held by Bamberger Basketball GmbH.
