Axelle Klinckaert
Axelle Klinckaert (born 28 May 2000 in Dendermonde, Belgium) is a Belgian former artistic gymnast who competed for GymMAX vzw under head coach Yves Kieffer. She racked up a number of medals and helped Belgium reach major competitions.
Junior career
- 2014 Belgian Championships: junior all-around champion
- 2014 Elite Gym Massilia: floor gold
- 2014 International Gymnix: team finished fourth; floor finished fourth
- 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF): team silver; all-around silver; gold on beam and floor
- 2015 Top Gym: all-around champion; vault and floor gold
Senior career
- 2016 International Gymnix: all-around silver; floor gold; team gold
- 2016 Olympic Test Event: helped Belgium qualify for the Olympics for the first time since 1948; selected for the Olympic team but had to withdraw due to a knee injury; Rune Hermans took her spot
- 2017 Belgian Championships: uneven bars gold
- 2018 Doha World Cup: floor gold (in a three-way tie)
- 2018 Belgian Championships: all-around silver
- 2018 European Championships: Belgian team qualified to the team final but withdrew to prevent injuries; Klinckaert won bronze on floor
- 2018 World Championships: finished 18th in the all-around final
Axelle Klinckaert is known for her performances on the floor exercise and balance beam during a successful international career.
