Avalanchi is a small village in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, India. Locally, the name sounds like "avalanche," but Avalanchi is a beautiful hill spot with rolling meadows, winding paths, and bright flowers such as rhododendrons, magnolias, and orchids. It is about 26 km from Udhagamandalam (Ooty).

Nearby, Kundah Power House 5 sits at Avalanchi, about 18 km from Kundah. It has two generating units with a total capacity of 40 MW. The power plant uses water from Western Catchment Dam 1 and the Upper Bhavani Dam, with a forebay capacity of 700 cusec. Trout fishing is available in the lake, and the Trout Farm near Avalanche Dam is famous for its trout.

Avalanchi is connected by the Nilgiri Ghat Roads.
