The M-501, also known as Autovía de los Pantanos, is a road in the Madrid region of Spain. It is 72.78 km long (45.223 miles) and is managed by the Madrid regional government. The route has a motorway-grade section from Alcorcón to Navas del Rey and a two-lane road section from Navas del Rey to the border with Ávila. It follows the old C-501 and is sometimes called Carretera de los Pantanos because of the many dams and reservoirs along the way. The M-501 starts at the M-40 and M-511 junction near Pozuelo de Alarcón and Boadilla del Monte, passes near the M-50 beltway, and is joined by the M-506 near Villaviciosa de Odón and the European University of Madrid. It then crosses the future M-600 south of Brunete and continues west to Chapinería and Navas del Rey, where the autovía ends at a roundabout. From there it continues as a two-lane road toward the province of Ávila.
