The Aure is a river in northwestern France, in the Calvados department of Normandy. It runs for about 82 kilometers. Its source is near Caumont-l'Éventé and it flows into the Vire river at Isigny-sur-Mer. The largest town along the Aure is Bayeux. In June 1944, American troops crossed the Aure during the liberation of France in World War II. The river once powered a small cotton mill. The water is fairly muddy and the current is moderate, with faster flow in narrow sections like Bayeux center.
