Audaxlytoceras
Audaxlytoceras is an extinct genus of ammonite mollusks in the family Lytoceratidae. It lived in the Lower Jurassic period, during the Pliensbachian stage, about 190.8 to 182.7 million years ago. Its closest relative was Nannolytoceras from the Middle Jurassic. Synonyms include Aegolytoceras and Peripleuroceras.
Fossils have been found in France, Germany, Italy, Morocco and Spain. The shell is small and smooth, and evolute (all whorls are visible). It has a gently impressed inner edge, whorls that are compressed and roughly square in cross-section (higher than wide), with only a few narrow constrictions. The sutures are relatively simple, with a long ventral lobe and two lateral lobes.
Species include: A. apertum, A. audax, A. grandonense, A. spirorbis, A. varicosum.
