Arthurlie F.C.
Arthurlie Football Club, nicknamed The Lie, is a football club from Barrhead in East Renfrewshire, Scotland. They play at Dunterlie Park (capacity 3,000) and compete in the West of Scotland League Premier Division after winning promotion as champions of the First Division in the 2024–25 season.
Founded in 1874, Arthurlie has a long history. They spent time in the Scottish Football League (1901–1915 and 1923–1929) and have won the Scottish Junior Cup twice (1937 and 1998). They had notable cup adventures with Celtic, including a 4–2 win in 1896–97, though Celtic won 7–0 the following season; their last Scottish Cup tie to date was a 1929 loss at Celtic Park.
In the early days, Arthurlie helped form the Scottish Football Federation (1891) and later joined the Scottish Football Alliance (1893) before entering the Scottish Football League in 1901. They won the Third Division in 1923 and had several seasons in the Second Division before resigning in 1929 due to finances.
The club later found success in the Junior ranks, winning the Scottish Junior Cup again in 1998, and in modern times won the West of Scotland Cup in 2015. The team has had several managers over the years; the current manager is Colin Reilly.
Ground history: Arthurlie moved to Dunterlie Park in 1882, then to a second Dunterlie Park in 1906, and to the current Dunterlie Park in 1919.
